About JayDay
JayDay is a free at-home tutor for children who have just moved to a new country. We just moved to a new country — that sentence is where every JayDay lesson starts.
Our mission
We want every child who has just moved to a new country to feel capable in their new classroom — not lost in it. JayDay gives them a calm, patient tutor at home for about 30 minutes a day, in a language they already understand.
JayDay teaches English alongside the child's actual new school curriculum — reading, writing, maths and science — so the daily practice pays off in school on Monday morning, not just in an app.
Free, always — this is a give-back
JayDay is 100% free and always will be. There are no ads, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no premium tier and no data selling. It is run as a charitable give-back project for newcomer families, funded by donations, sponsors and volunteer time.
Families in their first year in a new country are already carrying enormous costs. Tutoring should not be one more bill — so we removed the bill entirely.
The Jayden story
JayDay began with one child: Jayden, who moved from Thailand to Canada. He was bright and curious, but a full school day in a language he was still learning left him exhausted and quiet.
The first version was built just for him, with his own mother's recorded voice as the guide, so every instruction arrived in the warmest, most familiar sound he knew. It worked. JayDay is that same idea, opened up for every newcomer child.
Who JayDay is for
Children aged 6 to 12 who are new to Canada or the USA, and the parents and settlement workers supporting them. The helper layer speaks 13 home languages, including Thai, Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Arabic, Persian, Korean and French.
